TTI Blackburn Plant occupies a large site within the heavily industrialised East Lancashire region. The business moved to its current location in 1972, and was merged with the Leeds plant in 1999 to improve the range of processing capability and extend the back up to the customer without increasing cost levels.

The Vacuum Department at the Blackburn site is specifically for the heat treatment of tool steels, enabling the most popular cycles to be run nightly. An overnight Vacuum Heat Treatment service is available and includes:

Vacuum Hardening & Tempering
Vacuum Hardening of Tool Steels
Vacuum Annealing of Austenitic Stainless Steels
Vacuum Hardening Martensitic Stainless Steels
Solution Treatment of a Variety of Materials

Sealed quench furnaces of varying sizes up to one tonne gross payload provide an atmosphere heat treatment service including: Harden & Temper, Case Harden, Carbonitride, Annealing, Martemper, Nitrocarburise, Ipsen Nitral ‘D’ Process, Ipsen Nitral ‘T’ Process and Normalising.

A variety of handling units and output powers provide a versatile Induction Heat Treatment service which includes: Induction Hardening of Pins and Shafts, Induction “Drop Quench” hardening of gears, Induction Softening and Induction Treatment requiring Specialist Tooling.

A large Stress Relieving oven, of approximately 12m x 4.4m x 4m is available for treatments up to 650°C and is suitable for the Stress Relieving of Steel or Cast Iron and Annealing of Aluminium.
